Frequently Asked Questions

How long does the building process take?

The building process normally takes 120 days. Wet springs, snowy winters and job changes can make this longer.

May we make changes to your plans?

Certainly.

Does my new home come with a warranty?

Your new home will come with several warranties. The Savannah Homes Warranty covers

the house for the first year of ownership. Manufacturer warranties cover appliances, A/C,

furnace, water heater, disposal, windows, siding and roofing.

Is everything we see in the model home standard?

Except for furnishings, wall and window treatments, everything you see in our model home

is included in the price unless otherwise noted.

Can Savannah Homes build on my lot?

We can build on your lot if it is within 60 miles of Des Moines.

What does it cost to finish the basement?

The cost depends on what type of finish you want. Do you want a fireplace, half-or full-bath, or tile floors? Generally, a good rule of thumb for finishing the floors and walls is $42-$45 per square foot.

How do I know my plan will be built to city codes?

Every city requires several inspections (framing, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, insulation, etc.) during the building process, including a final inspection needed to obtain a Certificate of Occupancy (CO).

What selections may I make on my new home?

Depending on how far along the house is, you may be able to select flooring, countertops, cabinets, hardware, appliances, trim finish, exterior and interior colors.
